All,
A cloudy morning at Ben D. We got a little 3/8ths work into Silver Minted before the rain came and washed the morning out.
She had a better work than last time even though the final gallop-out time for 3/8ths was only one tick faster. With little urging from the rider she went 13, 12.2, and out in .39. She tired some over the last forty yards and came off the track blowing pretty hard. All in all I was pleased, but as with any work, we’ll know a lot more on Monday morning. As of right now, we’re good, and the filly looks a picture.
In the pic it’s Barbara Alfred, Missy Koppels, Barbie, David Alfred, Silver Minted, and David Alfred.
Tomorrow I expect to hear from Joe Orseno re: Flirty.
Have a great weekend.

All,
This is the kind of message I love to send!
“Flirty” worked her first half-mile at Gulfstream this morning. She went in 49.4, and Joe said, “For the first time at a half-mile this was a pretty nice work, especially since she worked alone. She went in 12 and change, 12 and change, 12 and change and 12 and a little bit more change because she was tiring a bit at the end, which is to be expected. Keith (Joe’s best exercise rider) said about midway in the work she seemed to be ready to slow down, but she changed gears and went right on with it.”
Joe said barring something unforeseen he expects her to be ready to run in three weeks, four at the most. Two more halves and a solid five-eighths will do it. He told me that Keith believes she’s a better filly than one in their barn that broke her maiden for $16-K. My bet is we’ll run her for twenty first time out.
Silver Minted came back from yesterday’s work in good shape.
