Now You Can have One Hundred Percent of the Fun for Six Percent of the cost!
A share in this Partnership is being offered for re-sale. This is your opportunity to get into a two-horse Partnership, a pair of very nice two year-old colts that ought to get you to the races very soon. Laffin’ Place worked a half and galloped out 5/8ths on July 10. He worked in 48.2 (8/58), and galloped out in 1.02 and change. He got his gate card on July 17, and we’re looking for him to make his first start on August 2 at Philadelphia Park.
Details follow, but first I want to introduce you to our Big Bad Orange Boys!
Here’s “Laffin’ Place,” a chestnut colt born in Kentucky on Feb. 12, 2008, by BOWMAN’S BAND - Retroesque, by VALID APPEAL. He is nominated to the Breeders Cup and is KTDF and KBIF eligible. (Photo - June ‘09).
Laffin’ Place is from the third crop of BOWMAN’S BAND, a G-II stakes winner of over $1.3 million. An exemplar of soundness and a gem of consistency, Bowman’s Band made 34 lifetime starts and won or placed in eighteen stakes races, including the Meadowlands Breeders Cup, the Metropolitan Mile, the Iselin, the Whitney, and the Woodward. Laffin’ Place is a half-brother to Seven-Ten Split, our yearling colt.
Laffin’ Place is the second foal from Retroesque (”Retro”), daughter of top broodmare sire Red Ransom. Retro made four starts at age three, breaking her maiden at 1 1/16th miles on the Monmouth Park turf. Her dam is Valid Bonnet, a Grade III stakes-winner of over $387,000 and daughter of top broodmare sire, Valid Appeal.
Retro is a half-sister to Little Bonnet, dam of the sensational G III Stakes Placed two year-old colt Boys At Tosconova, who broke his maiden July 2 at Belmont Park, running five-eights in an astonishing 56.2, winning by twelve lengths in a hand-ride. Laffin’ Place comes from a ’live’ family of good racehorseshorses, and he’s showing early signs that he is one of them.
“I’ll never be able to thank you enough for inviting me in to this adventure. See you in the Winner’s Circle!“ All Play Member LaVerne Wirth
Meet “Starliner,” a chestnut colt born in Kentucky on March 22, 2008, by JOHAR – Wait ‘Til Midnight, by JUDGE T C. He is nominated to the Breeders Cup and is KTDF and KBIF eligible. (Photo June, ‘09).
Starliner is from the third crop of Johar, a multiple G-I Stakes Winner of nearly $1.5 million. Johar won the Grade I John Deere Breeders Cup Turf Classic and won or placed in nine other stakes, seven of them Graded, all of them on the grass. He earned nearly $1.5 million.
Starliner is the first foal from Wait ‘Til Midnight, daughter of top racehorse Judge T C. ’Wait’ is a half-sister to CINDERELLA’S DREAM, a Grade II stakes-placed stakes winner of over $133,000. Their dam is Broadway Hoofer, herself a half-sister to two stakes winners, a stakes-placed horse, and four other winners.
Note: Starliner carries two crosses of Secretariat in his pedigree. Two of his four great-grandmothers, the dams of Gone West and of Judge T C, are daughters of that immortal Champion.
Laffin’ Place is in training with Joe Orseno at Philadelphia Park. He had his first work from the gate on July 3, going a half-mile in 48.3, fourth fastest time of the day at the distance and the fastest by a two year-old. This talented colt is just a work or two away from his first start.
Starliner was in training thru March, but we decided to give him some time off to grow into himself. Now standing sixteen hands tall, he looks a million and is back in training at Ben D Farm South in Ocala, FL, where he is available for your inspection. We’re hopeful that he’ll be ready to make his first start early this fall.
All Play Big Orange, LLC consists of sixteen shares. All Play Stable retains and fully supports one share representing a 10% ownership of the LLC. Each of the remaining fifteen shares is a six-percent (6%) ownership interest in the Partnership. All shares were sold in 2009, however one share is being offered for re-sale @ $7,500. Expenses on one full share are from $800 to $1,050 per-quarter, depending upon whether both horses are at the race track. Earnings, if any, would reduce expenses.
The selling partner has authorized the sale of half-shares, each a 3% ownership interest. Half-shares would cost $3,750 and expenses would be $400 to $525 per-quarter.
