"Seven-Ten Split" - Ch.c., 2/22/09 (PA). Tenpins - Retroesque, by Red Ransom

This is “Seven-Ten Split,” a chestnut colt foaled in Pennsylvania on Feb. 22, 2009.  He’s nominated to Breeders Cup and as a registered Pennsylvania-bred is fully eligible to compete in the lucrative Pennsylvania  Thoroughbred racing program.  (Photo - July, 2009)

Congratulations and thanks to Tamara Morris who submitted ‘Seven-Ten Split’ as her entry in the Colt Division of our July ‘09 “Name A Race Horse, Win A Prize” contest.

Seven-Ten Split is a son of TENPINS, a hard-knocking Multiple Graded Stakes Winner of over $1.1 million.  Tenpins   made seventeen starts from ages three to six, finishing ‘on the board’ fourteen times, including nine wins.  He won the Grade II Iselin Handicap and set a track-record while winning the G-II Washington Park Handicap.  By Smart Strike and out of a Deputy Minister mare, Tenpins is bred on the same cross as world-leading money winner, Curlin.

Seven-Ten Split is the third foal from Retroesque, daughter of top broodmare sire Red Ransom.  Retroesque made a total of four starts at age three and was a winner at 1-1/16th miles on the Monmouth Park turf.  Her dam is Valid Bonnet, a Grade III stakes-winner of over $387,000 and a daughter of top broodmare sire Valid Appeal. Valid Bonnet is the dam of five foals of racing age, all of which have started and won.  One is stakes-placed.  Retroesque is also the dam of our two year-old colt Laffin’ Place and our three year-old gelding, Sabrejet.

Say ‘Hi’ to “So Surprised (nickname: ‘Suzy’), a bright-bay filly foaled in Pennsylvania on  Mar. 29, 2009.  She’s nominated to Breeders Cup and to the Florida Stallion Series, and is also a registered Pennsylvania-bred. (Photo - July 2009)

‘Suzy’ looks a lot like her sire PEACE RULES, a multiple Grade-I Stakes Winner of $3.1 million.  Winner of seven Graded Stakes including three Grade I’s, the Blue Grass, the Haskell, and the Suburban, Peace Rules was also second in the G-I Travers and third in the G-I KY Derby.

So Surprised is the second foal from Wait ‘Til Midnight, daughter of top racehorse JUDGE T C ($826,826) and half-sister to Stakes Winner CINDERELLA’S DREAM ($133,600).

Wait ‘Til Midnight’s dam is Broadway Hoofer, herself a half-sister to seven winners, including stakes winners BROADWAY’S TOP GUN ($243,158) and BROADWAY CHIEF (11 wins, $193,354), and stakes-placed Celtic Warrior ($137,357).  Broadway Hoofer also has a two year-old colt by Rock Hard Ten and a yearling filly by Leading Sire Smart Strike.   

Wait ‘Til Midnight’s first foal, Starliner, is in our Big Orange Racing Partnership.

"Miss Waterford" - Dk. br. f., 1/21/09 (PA). Exclusive Quality - Toasttofriendship, by Salt Lake

Introducing “Miss Waterford (nickname: ‘Toastem’), a dark brown filly foaled in Pennsylvania on Jan. 21, 2009.  She’s nominated to Breeders Cup and the Florida Stallion Series, and is also a registered Pennsylvania-bred. (Photo - July  2009).

Miss Waterford is from the first crop of EXCLUSIVE QUALITY, son of Leading Sire Elusive Quality.  Exclusive Quality started four times,  finishing second in his lone start at two, then winning three races at three including a maiden win in which he defeated eventual three year-old Colt Champion, Bernardini.  “E.Q.” also set a new track record at Gulfstream Park, running 7/8ths in 1:21:1, and he ran 6½ furlongs in a sizzling 1:15:4 while winning  the Spectacular Bid Stakes, also at Gulfstream.  In short, “E.Q.” could fly!

Miss Waterford is the first foal from Toasttofriendship (nickname: “Toasty”), daughter of emerging top broodmare-sire, Salt Lake.  “Toasty” made thirty-seven starts in five years at the race track, winning seven races and nearly $110,000 in the process.

Toasty’s dam is Miss Angel Too, dam of six winners including the Grade III Stakes Placed filly Sweet Storm Creek ($249,166).  Toasty’s grand-dam, Adam’s Angel ($71,120), is the dam of eleven winners from twelve foals, including four stakes horses (all fillies): stakes winner MISS ANGEL T. ($243,462) and stakes- placed May We ($135,228), Gate Appeal ($116,659) and Spiritofpocahontas ($65,918).

"Twilight Cocktails" - B. f., 2/25/09 (FL). Gibson County - Twyla, by Citidancer

 

 

Meet “Twylight Cocktails,” a snazzy bay filly by GIBSON COUNTY from Twyla, by Citidancer, foaled in Florida on Feb. 25, 2009.  She’s nominated to Breeders Cup and the Florida Stallion Series, and as a registered Florida-bred she’s eligible for the bonuses awarded to horses that earn money in races at the Florida tracks.  (Photo - July 2009).

Twylight Cocktails is from the sixth and final crop of GIBSON COUNTY, multiple Graded Stakes-placed stakes winner of over $375,000. Trained by Bob Baffert, Gibson County made twenty-five starts over four seasons, finishing in the money in eleven stakes races and winning three, two of them as a two year-old.  GIBSON COUNTY was emerging as a very successful Florida sire when he died prematurely in March of 2008.  He was the very definition of speed and soundness.

Twylight Cocktails is the third foal from Tywla, daughter of excellent broodmare sire and purveyor of speed, Citidancer.  Hickory-tough was Twyla, making thirty-three starts over four racing seasons, winning or placing in nineteen races, and earning over $123,000.  Twyla is the dam of two other foals, both winners:  Six year-old Another Vow ($153,000) and four year-old Twyla’s Red Cat ($40,940).

Twyla’s dam, Judge Supreme, was stakes-placed, and is the producer of nine winners from eleven foals, including stakes winners McKENDREE ($334,156) and WHITE CLIFFS, ($245,542).
